Worktap
Version 1. In effect from August 9, 2026.

What this policy covers

Worktap.ca is a job posting platform operating in Ontario. This policy explains what we treat as a fraudulent job posting, how you can report one, and what we do when we receive a report.

It applies to every listing published on worktap.ca, whether an employer submitted it through the post a job form or asked us to post it on their behalf.

What we treat as a fraudulent posting

A posting is fraudulent if it misrepresents the job or the person advertising it. Examples include:

  • A job that does not exist, or a role advertised with no intention of hiring.
  • A posting that misstates the employer's identity, or advertises on behalf of a business without its knowledge.
  • Any request for money from an applicant, including training fees, equipment deposits, background check fees, or payment for placement.
  • A request for banking details, government identification, or immigration documents before a genuine offer of employment.
  • Pay, hours, duties, or location that are knowingly misstated.
  • A posting used to collect personal information for a purpose other than hiring.

How to report a posting

Every job listing on Worktap carries a report link, on the listing card and on the job page itself. That link opens our report form at worktap.ca/report and fills in the listing for you.

You can also email hello@worktap.ca with the job title, the employer name, and what looks wrong. You do not need an account to report a posting, and you can report one without giving us your name or email.

What we do with a report

We review every report a person submits. We aim to complete a first review within one business day of receiving it.

  • While we review, we may hide the listing from the public board.
  • We contact the employer using the details on file and ask them to account for what was reported.
  • If we conclude the posting is fraudulent, we remove it and decline further postings from that account.
  • If we conclude the posting is legitimate, we restore it and, where a correction is needed, ask the employer to fix it before it goes back up.
  • We keep a record of the report, our review, and the outcome.

If you gave us your email

Giving us an email address is optional. If you provide one, we use it only to ask follow up questions about your report and to tell you the outcome. We do not add it to any mailing list and we do not pass it to the employer.

What this policy does not promise

We give every listing a basic legitimacy review before it is published. That review is not employer verification, a background check, or a guarantee about any employer. Use normal caution when you apply for work and when you attend an interview.

Never pay money to get a job, and do not share banking or identity documents before you have a genuine written offer.

Reporting to authorities

If you have lost money or shared identity documents, contact your local police service and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. Ontario employment standards complaints go to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. Reporting a posting to us does not replace either step.

Versions of this policy

We keep every superseded version of this policy for at least three years, listed at the bottom of this page with the dates it was in effect.
