Food Production Assistant — Casual / Recurring Part-Time

Wanderlust Kitchen makes shelf-stable, plant-based meals inspired by South Asian flavours. We’re looking for a reliable, responsible and detail-oriented Food Production Assistant. Our goal is to find one dependable person we can train and work with regularly during future production runs as our business grows. Location: Commercial kitchen in Leaside/East York, near Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive. Applicants must be available for the complete initial production run: Monday, October 5 through Thursday, October 8, from 2:30–8:30 p.m. each day. We have confirmed production scheduled for October 13–15, October 19–22 and at least two weeks in November. A candidate who performs well during the initial run and is a good fit will be offered these upcoming shifts, with the potential for recurring work beyond November. Responsibilities include: Preparing, chopping and cooking food Weighing ingredients, portioning and packaging products Loading and unloading dehydrators Washing equipment, trays and utensils Thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment General kitchen and production tasks Cleaning and sanitation are a significant part of this position. Procedures may need to be repeated several times during a shift. You must be willing to thoroughly clean large equipment, including steam kettles, and follow sanitation procedures without shortcuts. Punctuality and reliability are essential. You must arrive ready to work at the scheduled start time, follow instructions carefully, respond positively to feedback, remain standing for much of the shift and safely lift 30–40 pounds. Previous commercial kitchen or food-production experience and a valid Food Handler Certificate are assets, but training will be provided.
